Come on in and experience a typical Southern market - “a little bit of this and a little bit of that” with a lot of old-fashioned hospitality. Food is in the back, seating up front with displays of hand selected goods and an assortment of home decor & gifts in the middle.

TASTE Trading Co offers an opportunity for local artisans and small businesses to showcase their items in a marketplace atmosphere. It has a local farmhouse vibe with select pantry items, gifts, sweets and other collectibles on display. Small rooms offer little businesses an opportunity to make their own shop where they can merchandise, manage and sell their goods.

TASTE owner, BJ Turner, realizes she has created her own little business incubator and sees value in making room for entrepreneurs to test the waters and really see what it takes to make a business grow. She enjoys helping others get started and understands whatever she brings in, adds to her customer’s experience. It’s always changing at TASTE’s Trading Co so come in often, introduce yourself and say hello.

Yeah! Maybe the food brings you to TASTE but BJ and her crew provide the community a memorable gathering space full of comfort and fun - everyday except Thursday!

BJ Turner understands what it takes to “make it” as a small business. She opened TASTE in the middle of a pandemic, determined to “pivot” and adjust her business model to meet the demands of her customers and her community. The market is always changing with new merchandise and vendors approaching her with ideas. The deli has remained constant - good quality, home cooked meals at affordable prices (fried chicken too!).

IGA, Inc. American chain of grocery stores since 1926 that operates as a franchise. Many stores are located in small-towns and belong to families that manage them. In 1979, the Sullivan brothers, bought into their hometown IGA grocery store (Shenandoah Grocery) and ran it for 40 years until they retired and closed the store - leaving the Town of Shenandoah without a market and without their beloved IGA fried chicken! In 2019, the shopping center was purchased and converted to the Town Center with TASTE being one of 6 anchor businesses. From the time the Sullivan’s retired, the once IGA deli employee and now TASTE owner, BJ Turner, made it known that she was bringing back IGA's iconic fried chicken and establishing a local market to gather and enjoy the tastes of home - TASTE The Southern Market, Circa 2020!
